Childhood and Early Life
Jillian Petrie was born on November 15, 1986, in Cardston, Alberta, Canada. The youngest of seven children, Petrie displayed a passion for the stage from an early age. Open and outgoing, she made her first public appearance at the age of four in her family-owned movie theatre. A year later, she discovered her love for film and made her on-screen debut.
After graduating high school, Petrie moved to the United States and attended Utah Valley University, where she studied performing arts.
Acting Career
Early Roles: 2010-2015Petrie's theatrical experience during college led to her screen debut in 2010 in "My Girlfriend's Boyfriend." She then appeared in the sci-fi action film "The Last Eagle Scout." Following this, she gained recognition in the family drama "Congratulations."
Television and Film Roles: 2015-Present
In 2015, Petrie landed the recurring role of Eleanor in the television show "iJane." She later shifted her focus to short films before securing a role in her brother Joel Petrie's thriller "Slender." Despite its original premise, the film failed to generate much interest.
Petrie's subsequent projects include the thriller "The Final Descent," the romantic comedy "Hello, I Love You," and the acclaimed television series "Yellowstone." In 2018, she appeared in the psychological thriller "Unsane," directed by Steven Soderbergh.
Personal Life
Petrie is happily married to cinematographer and gaffer Charles Janis, with whom she has a daughter, Cleo. They value privacy and rarely share details of their family life publicly. Petrie enjoys active outdoor activities such as skiing, rollerblading, kayaking, diving, and ATV riding.
Present and Future
After a brief hiatus, Petrie's career has recently seen a resurgence. In 2022, she starred in the science fiction film "Cryo." She has several upcoming projects, including "Forget the Rest" and "Sole."
