Kabiné Komara: Tenth Prime Minister of Guinea
Early Life and EducationKabiné Komara was born on March 8, 1950, in Kankan, Guinea. He completed his secondary education in Conakry, the nation's capital, and later enrolled at the École Nationale d'Administration (ENA), graduating in 1973.
Career and Training
Komara's career began as an assistant director of personnel at the Guinean Bauxite Company. He also served as the director of the aluminum factory in Fria.
In 1975, Komara pursued an internship at Swiss Credit in Switzerland. He later undertook training programs at the Institut Supérieur des Affaires in Paris (1981) and the École des Relations Internationales et Gestion in Paris (1982).
In 1992, Komara earned a degree in monetary economics from Colorado State University in the United States. In 1997, he obtained a diploma in banking investment management from the American University in Cairo (AUC) in Egypt.
Transition into Politics
In 1990, Komara was appointed as the Director of National Planning and Cooperation for Guinea's Transitional Council for National Recovery.
After completing his studies at AUC in 1997, Komara settled in Cairo. In 2003, he became Guinea's director at the African Export-Import Bank.
Elevation to Prime Ministership
During Guinea's political crisis in early 2007, labor union leaders recommended Kabiné Komara for the prime ministership. However, President Lansana Conté initially declined. After Conté's death in December 2008, the National Council for Democracy and Development (CNDD) offered the position to Komara, who immediately accepted.
Term as Prime Minister
Komara was sworn into office on December 30, 2008. He served as Prime Minister until December 2010. Komara's tenure was marked by his active involvement in political affairs and his popularity among the Guinean public.
