The Genesis of Kadnay

In 2012, under the enigmatic moniker that remains "a mystery nobody can figure out," Dmitry Kadnay and Philip Kolyadenko embarked on their musical journey with the formation of Kadnay. Kadnay, a solo artist prior to this, had his debut video directed by Elena Kolyadenko, who later became the band's music producer.

The Debut Album: "Kadnay"

Building upon their initial single, "Vzletela," Kadnay unleashed their self-titled debut studio album in December 2014. This release marked a leap into a tour across Ukraine, boasting singles such as "I Do Not Belong to You" and "My Weakness." The album solidified the band's presence with the addition of PR manager Inna Gisa.

Indie to Electropop: "23Floor"

The summer of 2015 marked a period of transformation as Kadnay delved into the creation of their second album. In June 2016, "23Floor" emerged, showcasing a departure from their indie roots towards electropop. This transition was evident in singles like "Symphony Of Love," "Hitchcock," and "You Know How I Roll."

Eurovision Endeavors and "Chuyu"

January 2017 brought forth "Freedom in My Mind," a song intended for the national selection of Eurovision. However, it was Kadnay's first Ukrainian-language single, "Chuyu," that became a defining moment for the band. Released in September, the track's title underwent a change after the release of Jamala's "Dyhanie." The accompanying music video, directed by Alan Badoev, captured the essence of the song.

The "Chuyu" EP, presented in November 2017, featured five Ukrainian songs and an English bonus track. The album garnered critical acclaim for its "passion, rich sound, and sincerity."

Breaking Barriers and Soaring Heights

Kadnay's experimentation with Ukrainian-language lyrics culminated in their YUNA nomination for "Best Pop Group" in 2017. Invited for the second time to participate in the national Eurovision selection, they entered with "Beat Of The Universe" and secured a spot in the final, ultimately placing third.

Their unwavering pursuit of innovation earned them the title of "Indie" and "New Names" winners at the Golden Zhar-Ptitsa Awards in 2018.
