Early Life and EducationKai Krause was born in Dortmund, Germany on March 14, 1957. In 1976, at the age of 19, he moved to the United States, where he pursued his passion for sound effects using early synthesizers and vocoders. In 1996, Krause earned a Master's degree in Image Processing from Brooks Institute in Santa Barbara, California. Later, in 1999, he received an honorary doctorate from the University of Essen, Germany.
Founding HSC Software and MetaCreations
In 1992, Krause established a small company called HSC Software. In 1997, HSC Software merged with MetaTools and Fractal Design to form MetaCreations, with Krause serving as founder and CEO. MetaCreations became renowned for its groundbreaking software products, including Kai's Power Tools, Bryce, Painter, and Poser.
Innovative Interfaces and User Experience
Krause's software creations were distinguished by their intuitive and visually captivating user interfaces.
