Biography of Bernard Ecclestone

Bernard Ecclestone is the President and CEO of Formula One Management and Formula One Administration. He is also the owner of Alpha Prema, a company that holds the rights to Formula One races. Ecclestone has been referred to as the "Dictator of F1" by journalists in the tabloid press.

Early Life and Career

Bernard Ecclestone was born on October 28, 1930, in a small village in Suffolk County, England. His parents later moved to London. At the age of sixteen, Ecclestone had to leave school and started working at a local gas equipment manufacturing plant. He had a strong passion for motorcycles and motorcycle racing.

After the end of World War II, Ecclestone started a business trading spare parts for motorcycles. He founded the company "Compton & Ecclestone." Bernard began competing in motorcycle races and achieved quite impressive results.

Formula One Career

Ecclestone's career in the racing world began as a manager for drivers Lewis Evans and Jochen Rindt. In 1972, he purchased the Brabham team, with which he competed for fifteen years. As the owner of a racing team, he automatically became a member of Formula One. The primary source of income at that time was the sale of television rights for race broadcasts. Formula One races were, and still are, immensely popular, with thousands of people rushing to buy tickets for the races. The Formula One brand became a global phenomenon, and many major brands sought to place their advertisements on the racing circuits.

Wealth and Personal Life

In 2003, the annual edition of "The Sunday Times Rich List" named Bernard Ecclestone the third richest person in the UK, with an estimated fortune of £2.4 billion. However, his ranking fell to eighth place by 2004 and thirteenth place in 2006. In early 2004, he sold his luxurious mansion in London to steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal for £57.1 million, which was the highest price ever paid for a property in London at that time.

Bernard Ecclestone is married to Slavica Ecclestone, a former renowned model. She is 28 years younger and 29 centimeters taller than him. They have two beautiful daughters, Tamara and Petra Ecclestone. As of today, Bernard Ecclestone's net worth is estimated at $2.2 billion.
