Biography of Kami Craig

Kami Craig is an American water polo player and participant of the 2008 Olympics. She was born on July 21, 1987, in San Luis Obispo, California. Craig is considered one of the talented emerging water polo players in the United States and is a member of the national team. She plays as a center player and has gained recognition for her ability to lead her team out of difficult losing situations.

Early Life and Education

Kami Craig spent her youth in Santa Barbara, where she completed her high school education. At the age of 12, she started playing water polo and was already recognized as one of the best school players by newspapers such as the Los Angeles Times and Santa Barbara News Press. She won the state championship, and many coaches predicted a bright future for her. After graduating from high school, Kami Craig enrolled at the University of Southern California, where she is studying sociology and plans to graduate in 2009.

Water Polo Career

In 2007, Kami Craig scored three goals for the San Diego State team, securing third place for her team in the NCAA Championship. Over time, she became one of the leading players capable of turning around difficult losing situations. Despite her young age, Craig has not yet had the opportunity to participate in all world tournaments and win numerous medals. In 2004, she became the champion of the Junior Pan American Championship in El Salvador. In 2005, she once again won first place with her team at the Junior National Championship held in Australia. In 2006, she won a gold medal at the Holiday Cup. In 2007, Craig and the American team took first place at the FINA World Championship held in Melbourne. Additionally, her team became the winner of the Pan American Games in Brazil that same year, while the American team finished fourth at the FINA tournament in Portugal.

Olympic Success

In 2008, Kami Craig was selected to be part of the United States women's water polo team for the Olympics. She and her teammates brought home the silver medal. Despite her youth, Craig is known for being a highly professional and experienced player.

Personal Interests

In her free time, Kami Craig enjoys surfing and considers the ocean and water to be her second element. She also has a love for Mexican cuisine. Her favorite movies include "The Notebook," "The Holiday," and "300." She is a fan of Bob and Damian Marley, Colbie Caillat, Jack Johnson, Kanye West, and Chris Brown. She particularly enjoys reggae and rap music.
