Biography of Kamil Rustam

Kamil Rustam is a French guitarist, songwriter, arranger, and producer. He was born in 1972 in Amsterdam, Holland, but later moved to Paris, France. Growing up, Rustam was exposed to the sound of his father's guitar, as his father was a student of Alexandre Lagoya and Ida Presti. However, it was not until he heard the music of the Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, and Jimi Hendrix that Rustam decided to become a musician, specifically a guitarist.

At the age of 7, Rustam enrolled in the municipal conservatory of the 14th district and studied guitar for 10 years while also playing with local bands. By the 1980s, he was one of the most sought-after guitarists in France, known for his ability to play in various styles. In 1986 and 1987, Rustam was awarded the 'Les Victoires De La Musique' award for 'best session musician'.

Rustam gained fame through his collaborations with numerous stars of varying degrees of popularity. His career as a producer began in 1984 when his classmate Patrick Bruel approached him to organize his first single, 'Marre de cette nana la'. The collaboration resulted in a million copies sold. Rustam went on to work on projects with Patricia Kaas, Phil Barney, Florent Pagny, and in 1985, he was named 'Best Producer' for Michel Jonasz's album 'Unis Vers L'Uni'. From 1985 to 1988, Rustam was a member of the band 'Preface'.

In 1996, Rustam relocated to Los Angeles, California, where he continued to work in the music industry. His production work included projects with Jessica Simpson, James Ingram, and many others. He occasionally returns to France to work on projects in his home country.

Throughout his career, Rustam has collaborated with over 70 artists of various levels of stardom.
