Early Career and European Debut
Kara Mbodj's journey into football began at Senegal's Diambars Football Academy. His talent caught the attention of Norwegian club Tromsø, who offered him his first professional contract in 2010. He made his Tippeligaen debut in March 2010 and scored his first goal for the club the following year. Kara's impressive performances helped Tromsø reach the Norwegian Cup final in 2012.
Success in Belgium
In early 2013, Mbodj made the move to Belgium, signing a three-and-a-half-year contract with Genk. He quickly established himself as a key player, debuting in the Jupiler League in February and scoring his first goal for the club in April. Kara's contributions helped Genk win the Belgian Cup in the 2012/2013 season.
Transfer to Anderlecht
In the summer of 2015, Mbodj joined Anderlecht on a four-year contract for a transfer fee of 4.5 million euros. He made his debut for Anderlecht in August and scored his first goal for the club in a Europa League match against Olympiacos in February 2016. Kara's impressive form earned him a Belgian League championship title in 2017.
International Career
Mbodj made his international debut for Senegal in 2013, participating in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers. He scored his first goal for the national team against Botswana in 2014. Since then, he has represented Senegal in multiple editions of the Africa Cup of Nations, including the 2015 tournament in Equatorial Guinea and the 2017 event in Gabon, where he scored a goal against Tunisia.
