Biography of Karapet Rubinyan
Karapet Rubenovich Rubinyan (Armenian: Կարապետ Ռուբինյան) was born on September 14, 1957, in Yerevan, Armenia. He is an Armenian political figure, known for his contributions to the country's political landscape.
Education and Early Career
Rubinyan attended Yerevan Secondary School No. 38 named after Belinsky from 1964 to 1974. After completing his education, he enrolled in Yerevan Polytechnic Institute, where he studied electrical engineering from 1974 to 1979.
After graduation, Rubinyan worked as an engineer at the scientific-production association "Aiyastots" from 1979 to 1981. He then worked as a senior engineer at the Armenian branch of the "VNIISstandardelectro" institute from 1981 to 1982.
Political Involvement and Career
Rubinyan's political career began in 1982 when he joined the NPO "Transistor" as a senior engineer. He held various positions within the organization, including senior engineer, first category design engineer, head of the sector, and later the head of the Information and Computing Center.
In 1988, Rubinyan became a member of the "Karabakh" committee in the NPO "Transistor" and also joined the "Armenian National Movement."
Rubinyan's political career took off in 1990 when he became a member of the Supreme Council of the Armenian SSR. During his tenure, he served as a member of the Permanent Commission on Local Self-Government and was a member of the "AOD" party.
From 1991 to 1999, Rubinyan was a member of the Board of the "Armenian National Movement" and served as the prefect of the Shengavit community in Yerevan from 1991 to 1992. He was also the vice-mayor of Yerevan from 1992 to 1993.
In 1993, Rubinyan assumed the role of the head of the Presidential Control Service in Armenia. He continued to have a significant impact on Armenian politics and became a member of parliament in 1995. From 1995 to 1998, he served as the Vice-Speaker of the Armenian Parliament and was a member of the Permanent Commission on Financial, Credit, Budgetary, and Economic Issues. Rubinyan remained a member of the "AOD" party during this time.
Rubinyan's political involvement extended beyond Armenia. From 1997 to 1999, he served as the Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation. He also chaired the Council of the "AOD" Shengavit community in Yerevan from 1998 to 2000.
Later Career and Organizations
In 1999, Rubinyan, along with his associates, founded and led the public organization "Eurohi" ("Europath"). From 1999 to 2006, he was a founding member of the "Armat" Center for Democracy and Civil Society.
In 2006, Rubinyan, along with his associates, established and participated in the "Civil Disobedience Movement."
Karapet Rubinyan has made significant contributions to Armenia's political landscape and remains an influential figure in the country.
