Born in Czechoslovakia, Karel Zelenka is an Italian figure skater of Czech descent. He is a five-time Italian national champion in men's singles skating.
Early Life and Background
Zelenka's father, also named Karel Zelenka, was a figure skating coach. Young Zelenka began skating at the age of four. When he was six, his father was offered a coaching position in Italy, and the family relocated to Milan.
International Career
As a junior skater, Zelenka began representing Italy in international competitions. In January 2006, he acquired Italian citizenship, enabling him to compete at the Turin Olympics, where he placed 25th.
Career Highlights
Zelenka's notable international achievements include a 16th-place finish at the 2008 World Championships and a 7th-place ranking at the 2007 European Championships.
