Karl Hegel was a German historian and the son of the famous philosopher, Georg Hegel. He made significant contributions to the field of urban history.

Hegel held professorship positions in history at the universities of Rostock and Erlangen. His most notable work, "Die Geschichte der Städteverfassung von Italien" (History of the Urban Constitutions of Italy), was published in Leipzig in 1847.
