Karl-Heinz Schütz is a virtuoso flutist renowned for his exceptional artistry. As principal flute of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, he holds the prestigious position of Professor at the Conservatory of the University of Vienna.

Early Education and Mentorship

Schütz's musical journey began in Austria, where he studied at the Vorarlberg State Conservatory under the guidance of Eva Amsler. He later pursued his studies in Switzerland with Aurèle Nicolet and in France at the National Conservatory in Lyon, where he honed his skills under Philippe Bernold and Jean-Louis Cappezzali.

International Success

Schütz's talent was recognized early on when he won first place at the Carl Nielsen International Flute Competition in 1998 and the Krakov International Flute Competition in 1999. His exceptional abilities led him to become principal flute of the Stuttgarter Philharmoniker, followed by his appointment to the Vienna Symphony Orchestra.

Collaborative Performances

Schütz has performed alongside world-renowned orchestras, including the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, NDR Hamburg, WDR Cologne, HR Frankfurt, Opéra de Lyon, and Orchestra of the Bayreuther Festspiele. He has also collaborated with maestro conductors such as Georges Pretre, Pierre Boulez, Kent Nagano, and Wolfgang Sawallisch.
