Karol Bunsch was a Polish historical novelist, essayist, and translator of English literature. He was also a lieutenant in the infantry of the Polish army. Born in 1922, Bunsch completed his legal education at Jagiellonian University. He worked on translating literature from English and German and for many years served as a lawyer, holding the position of advisor in Krakow.

Literary Career

In 1945, Bunsch made his debut as a novelist with the treasure novel "Dzikowy," which quickly gained fame and recognition. This novel marked the beginning of the Piasts series, which the author continued to publish until 1984. In 1953, he signed a resolution on ZLP (Union of Polish Writers) in Krakow.

In 1955, the first part of the later trilogy about Alexander the Great, "Olympiad," was published. In 1958, Bunsch released two short novels set during the Jagiellonian era - "O Zawisza Czarny 1444" and "Varna," in addition to his historical novels. He also wrote stories about treasures.
