Roman Catholic and Polish Statesman

In 1883, he was appointed Bishop of Vilnius by Pope Leo XIII, a position he formally held until 1889. However, in 1885, he was exiled to Yaroslavl for his resistance to Russification.

Archbishop and Exile

In 1891, he was appointed Titular Archbishop of Perge. From 1894 onwards, he resided in Galicia.

Political Involvement

In 1921, he served as a deputy in the Vilnius Sejm.
