Karthi Sivakumar, a renowned Indian actor, was born on May 25, 1977, in Madras (now Chennai), India. Raised alongside his older brother Suriya and younger sister Brindha, Karthi grew up in a family deeply rooted in the Tamil film industry. Despite his father's artistic background, Karthi's parents emphasized education. He pursued a degree in mechanical engineering and worked as a consultant engineer in New York City. However, his passion for filmmaking led him to study film production at the State University of New York.
Debut and Breakthrough
After returning to India, Karthi began his acting career as an assistant director. His debut appearance came in the 2005 romantic drama "Paruthiveeran." Despite its delayed release, the film became a critical and commercial success, winning multiple awards and earning the Golden Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival. Karthi's exceptional performance belied his beginner status.
