Kate Hooven, born on January 3, 1985, in Newton, Massachusetts, is an accomplished American synchronized swimmer. She currently trains and resides in California. As a young girl, she participated in various sports, including gymnastics and soccer, but struggled to find her true passion.

Discovery of Synchronized Swimming

At approximately eleven years of age, Hooven joined the Walnut Creek Swim Club and discovered synchronized swimming. This marked a turning point in her athletic career, propelling her to remarkable achievements.

Academic and Athletic Success

Hooven excels both in academics and athletics at The Ohio State University. She competes in synchronized swimming at the university and national levels. In 2004, she earned the prestigious Ohio State's Buckeye Award for her outstanding athleticism and won the College National Championship in synchronized swimming.

National and International Competition

Hooven's success extended beyond the university setting. She became a member of the United States National Team and served as an assistant captain, helping the team secure a fourth-place finish at the FINA World Championships. Her exceptional performance at the 2007 Pan American Games, where she contributed to a gold medal victory, played a crucial role in the Olympic Committee's decision to include her team in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
