Catherine Lanasa was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, into a family with a medical background. Her father was a plastic surgeon. At the tender age of twelve, Lanasa began her dance journey, and at fourteen, she was accepted into the prestigious North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem. Her passion for the art led her to pursue a career as a dancer and choreographer upon completing her studies.
