Early Life and Education
Kathi Smallwood, an American actress, writer, and producer, was born and raised in a Chicago suburb as the youngest of four children. From a young age, she was involved in the entertainment industry. She studied extensively with renowned acting coach Larry Moss and the late John Lehne and Jeff Corey.
Career
Smallwood has worked alongside prominent Hollywood actors, including Roy Scheider, Grace Zabriskie, Michael Madsen, and James Russo. Her versatile performances have ranged from an estranged wife in "Executive Target" to a weathered prostitute in "Dreams and Shadows," a lesbian architect in "Cold Case," and a delusional drug addict in "Intermission." She has also made a name for herself through her award-winning commercial work.
Smallwood has been actively involved in theater, performing in notable Los Angeles venues such as the Court Theatre, Odyssey Theatre, and HBO Workspace. In 2003 and 2008, she ventured into screenwriting and producing, creating two short films: "The Wind Effect" and "In the Bath with Kath." The former was a finalist in the 2007 IFP Market festival in New York, while the latter served as a self-reflective video art piece, an abbreviated version of a video blog of the same name.

Smallwood established her own production company, Cherry Street Films LLC, dedicated to producing independent projects.
