In 1937, Aldridge transitioned to acting with a minor role in "Vogues of 1938." By 1939, she was earning $250 per week for her performance in the drama "Hotel for Women." 1940 witnessed a surge in her film career with seven releases, including "Shooting High" and "Girl in 313."

Notable Roles and Screen Test for "Gone with the Wind"

Aldridge played the lead role in William Witney's "Perils of Nyoka" in 1942, which became her most famous performance. She was reportedly one of the early contenders for the role of Scarlett O'Hara in "Gone with the Wind."
