Keeley Hawes is an English actress who gained attention in the early 1990s for her roles in the television films "Troublemakers" and "The Moonstone". She is best known for her television roles, particularly as Zoe Reynolds in "Spooks" and Alex Drake in "Ashes to Ashes". Early Life and Education
Keeley Hawes was born in London to a family of a famous London cab driver. She received her education at the Sylvia Young Theatre School, where she studied oratory for ten years. Her education paid off as she landed roles in several television adaptations of classic novels, including "Tipping the Velvet" (BBC Two, 2002), "Wives and Daughters" (1999), "Our Mutual Friend" (1998), and "Under the Greenwood Tree" (2005). Hawes also appeared in films such as "The Avengers" (1998), "The Last September" (2000), "Complicity" (2000), and "A Cock and Bull Story" (2006). Additionally, she starred in two music videos for the songs "Saturday Night" by Suede and "She's a Star" by James.
Rise to Fame
On February 23, 2006, it was announced that Keeley Hawes would be the new voice of Lara Croft in the "Tomb Raider" video game series. She voiced Lara in "Tomb Raider: Legend" (2006), "Tomb Raider: Anniversary" (2007), and "Tomb Raider: Underworld" (2008). In the television series "Vicar of Dibley" (2006-2007), Hawes played Rosie, Harry's sister, who eventually married the character played by Dawn French. She also appeared in the comedy film "Death at a Funeral" (2007) and portrayed the loving wife of her real-life husband in the movie.
Recent Work and Awards
In 2008, Hawes began filming the movie "Flashbacks of a Fool" alongside Daniel Craig, known for his role as James Bond. She played the grown-up version of the main character's sister, Jessie. In September 2008, she joined the cast of the television series "Ashes to Ashes", for which she won the "Best Actress of the Year" award at the 2008 Glamour Women of the Year Awards. Keeley Hawes has been married twice. Her first husband was animator Spencer McCallum, whom she divorced after only eight weeks of marriage in 2002. She had been in a relationship with McCallum since 1995. Her second husband is actor Matthew Macfadyen, whom she married in 2004. They have two children together, a daughter named Maggie (born in 2004) and a son named Ralph (born in 2006).
