Biography of Kelly Clarkson

Kelly Brianne Clarkson, a pop singer, was born into a middle-income family, becoming the third child. Her mother, Jean Taylor, was a first-class teacher, and her stepfather, Jimmy Taylor, worked in contracting. Kelly was only six years old when her mother and biological father separated. From a young age, Kelly was introduced to a love for theater and performances. Initially, the living room was the setting for "Beauty and the Beast," and later "The Little Mermaid."

After enrolling in Burleson High School, Clarkson began spending a lot of time in the choir, instead of practicing as a backup volleyball player. She played prominent roles in school theater productions, including "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" and "Brigadoon." After graduating from high school in 2000, Kelly recorded a demo of her own composition. She worked as a waitress at a comedy club and a clerk at Eckerd Pharmacy. In January of that year, Kelly and her friend went to Los Angeles to get a little closer to her singing dream.

Out of various contracts, Kelly caught the attention of Gerry Goffin, a renowned songwriter and Carole King's partner. However, numerous setbacks, including Goffin's "random illness" and a fire in her and her friend's room, convinced her that she should return home to Burleson. In Burleson, she found a job as a promotions manager for the energy drink Red Bull. "She was just desperate and always said, 'I have to sing, it's the only thing I know how to do,'" her mother recalls.

And would you believe it, another one of her friends managed to convince her, with great difficulty, to become one of the 1,000 aspiring participants in the Dallas Auditions for "American Idol." After a couple of callbacks, Kelly found herself on a plane back to Los Angeles (the city of angels) to compete with 119 other "Idol" hopefuls. Kelly made it to the Top 30 of "American Idol"! She won America's hearts with her version of "Respect." Among the top 10 finalists, she found loyal friends in Justin Guarini and AJ Gil. The following week brought another breakthrough with "You're All I Need." Week after week, Kelly steadily moved closer to her dream, and fans faithfully voted to make it happen. From "Natural Woman" to "Walk on By," Kelly was magnificent, and more and more households wanted to watch her. The finale was near, but who would win? Justin Guarini and Kelly Clarkson had come a long way to claim their place as stars. Two new songs, "A Moment Like This" and "Before Your Love," created a sensation like never before! They were both American Idols: Justin and Kelly. America couldn't calm down for two nights, and it made its choice... KELLY WON! Tearful but happy, Kelly sang "A Moment Like This" after her victory - it was all she could say in that moment!
