Early Life and Musical Beginnings

Kendall Eddie is an American bassist and percussionist. He spent his childhood in Arlington, Virginia, where his musical taste began to develop. Like many children his age, he was captivated by the music he saw on MTV. Eddie started playing the piano briefly before quickly transitioning to the electric bass guitar. He gained his first experience playing in an alternative rock band, the school orchestra, and participating in the revival of the ska music style. After a year of college, Eddie decided to focus on learning the electric double bass, which became the main instrument of his musical exploration.

Eddie graduated from James Madison University with a Bachelor's degree in Double Bass Performance. He then moved to Boston to study jazz performance at the New England Conservatory, where he excelled and graduated with honors in 2004. During his time in Boston, Eddie had the privilege of learning and performing alongside renowned jazz innovators. His teachers included Bob Brookmeyer, a prominent figure in West Coast jazz, and Cecil McBee, a supporter of hard bop and free jazz. Eddie performed in ensembles led by Steve Lacy and Herb Pomeroy, among others.

After completing his studies, Eddie had the opportunity to perform professionally with notable musicians such as George Garzone and Jerry Bergonzi. He worked with the Boston Jazz Composers Alliance Orchestra, Ayn Inserto Jazz Orchestra, and the Brockton Symphony Orchestra. Eddie graced the stages of renowned venues across the United States, including Dizzy's Club, 55 Bar, Cornelia St. Café in New York, and Regattabar in Cambridge, Massachusetts. His talent also took him to Canada, Norway, Japan, and countries in the Caribbean.

Current Life and Musical Style

Currently residing in Brooklyn, New York, Eddie continues to expand his musical horizons. He aims to increase the number of jazz and improvisational music enthusiasts and expand the audience for these genres. Eddie's work with the comedy-improvisational theater group 'Quartet of Happiness' has allowed him to develop all aspects of musical aesthetics. It was through his involvement with the group that Eddie was able to write original material for his debut album and prepare for the release of his second album.

Eddie's performances have helped him evolve as an improvisational musician and a sensitive interpreter of any composition he performs, regardless of the collaborators on stage. He is known for his versatility and intuitive musicality, which he developed through his extensive experience performing in various musical settings, including small and large jazz ensembles, symphony orchestras, and chamber groups. Eddie's dedication to his craft and his desire to connect with audiences continue to drive his musical journey.
