Transfer to Internazionale and Loan to Ajax
In July 2009, Kerlon made headlines when he signed a three-year contract with Italian giants Internazionale. However, two months later, he was loaned out to Dutch club Ajax, with the option for Ajax to purchase him permanently if he impressed.
Role at Ajax and Injury Setback
Ajax manager Martin Jol expressed his admiration for Kerlon's talent, but also acknowledged his susceptibility to injuries. Kerlon made his debut for Ajax in a friendly match against Volendam, but a serious left knee injury in November 2009 sidelined him for six months and required surgery.
Loan to Nacional Esporte
