Kevin Kuranyi was born into a family of professional footballers. His father had German-Hungarian roots, while his mother was born in Panama. In 1993, he joined the club "Las Promesas" in Panama, and in 1994, he returned to his hometown club, "Serrano". In 1997, Kuranyi made a drastic change in his life and permanently moved to Germany.
