Early Life and Club Career

Lena Brand was born in Ludwigshafen, Germany, on February 24, 2005. She began her soccer career at the age of seven with the male youth teams of TSV Dudenhofen and SG Gönnheim. In 2017, she joined the youth academy of TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, where she played for the U-17 and U-20 teams in the German second division, the 2. Frauen-Bundesliga.

In 2020, after 37 league appearances, Brand was promoted to Hoffenheim's first team. In the 2020/21 season, the club finished third in the Bundesliga. In the 2021/22 UEFA Women's Champions League, Brand helped Hoffenheim reach the group stage for the first time, where they finished third in their group. She made nine appearances and scored three goals in the competition.

In the summer of 2022, Brand joined VfL Wolfsburg, one of the most successful women's soccer clubs in Germany.

National Team Career

Brand has represented Germany at various youth levels. She played for the Southwest Region U-14 team in 2015 and 2016, and for the Baden U-16 and U-18 teams in 2017 and 2018. She also played for the Southwest Region U-16 team and the German U-16 team in the Regional Cup.

With the German U-16 team, Brand participated in the Northern Cup. She qualified for the UEFA U-17 Women's Championship in 2019. At the tournament in Bulgaria, she played as a right-back in the group stage matches against England (4-0) and the Netherlands (2-3).

In the semifinals against Portugal, she switched to left-back. Germany's 2-0 victory sent them to the final, where they faced the Netherlands again. The match went to a penalty shootout, but Brand had already been substituted. Germany won the shootout and claimed their seventh title in the competition.

Brand made five appearances for the U-19 team in March 2020 at the La Manga Tournament. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the European Championship qualifiers and the tournament itself were canceled, preventing her from earning any official caps at youth international level.

Senior

In April 2021, Brand received her first call-up to the German national team for friendly matches against Australia and Norway. In the match against Australia, she came on as a substitute in the 60th minute and scored her first international goal just two minutes later.

Brand played in all six qualifying matches for the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup, scoring three goals against Israel and Turkey.

She was selected for the German squad for the 2022 UEFA Women's Euro. Germany reached the final but lost to England. Brand played in all six matches of the tournament.
