Biography of Roberto Acuña
Roberto Acuña, commonly known as "El Toro" (The Bull), is a Paraguayan footballer who played as a midfielder. He earned his nickname due to his toughness and resilience in defense. Acuña was born in Avellaneda, Argentina, but his parents immigrated to Paraguay when he was very young.
Early Career
In 1989, Acuña began his professional career playing for Club Nacional in the city of Asunción. He showed great potential and in 1994, he was granted Paraguayan citizenship, allowing him to play for the national team. Acuña then returned to Argentina, where he played for four seasons with clubs such as Argentinos Juniors, Boca Juniors, and Independiente. He spent two years with Independiente, making a significant impact on the team.
Success in Spain
In 1997, Acuña caught the attention of scouts from Real Zaragoza. He joined the Spanish club and spent five successful years there. In 2001, he won the Copa del Rey with his team. Throughout his time with Zaragoza, Acuña scored 20 goals against opposing teams.
International Career
Acuña represented the Paraguayan national team in three FIFA World Cups. He scored 5 goals in 100 appearances for the national team. His preferred position was as a central midfielder. Acuña's performances in the World Cups of 1998, 2002, and 2006 showcased his skill and contribution to the team.
Later Career

In 2007, Acuña returned to his homeland and joined Club Olimpia in Asunción. However, he struggled to secure a regular place in the starting lineup. As a result, he transferred to Club Rubio Ñu in 2009, where he continues to play to this day.
