Biography of Kevin McKidd
Kevin McKidd, born on August 9, 1973, is a Scottish film and television actor. He was born and raised in Elgin, Moray, Scotland, where he attended primary school and the Elgin Academy. McKidd was part of a local acting troupe in the Moray Youth Theatre. Originally planning to study engineering, he enrolled at the University of Edinburgh but later dropped out to pursue drama at Queen Margaret College. He also joined the theatre company of the University of Edinburgh's Bedlam Theatre.
Acting Career
McKidd's first professional role can be seen in the TV series "Father Ted" in 1996, where he portrayed Father Deegan in one of the episodes. Some of his notable roles include Tommy in "Trainspotting," Malky Johnson in "Small Faces," and James Hepburn, the 4th Earl of Bothwell and 3rd husband of Scottish queen Mary Stuart, in the BBC miniseries "Gunpowder, Treason & Plot" in 2004. In 1998, he played Basil in the four-part series "Looking After Jo Jo" for BBC. McKidd also became one of the main actors in the HBO/BBC project "Rome," where his portrayal of soldier and politician Lucius Vorenus received critical acclaim.

In addition to his television work, McKidd has appeared in several films, including "Kingdom of Heaven," "The Last Legion," "Hannibal Rising," and "Dog Soldiers," where he played the lead role. He has also lent his voice to popular video games such as "Grand Theft Auto: Vice City" and "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas," where he voiced Jezz Torrent, the flame-haired lead singer of the fictional Scottish hard rock band "Love Fist." In "Modern Warfare 2," he voiced Soap MacTavish.
Recent Work
In 2007, McKidd starred in the prequel to the classic psychological thriller "Silence of the Lambs" titled "Hannibal Rising." Later that year, he began playing the lead role in the American science fiction series "Journeyman" on NBC. However, the show had low ratings and was canceled after thirteen episodes.
