From a young age, Parker showed a keen interest in music, with his father, an amateur musician, teaching him how to play the guitar. At the age of 11, Parker, along with his brother, started learning to play the drums. During this time, he also began experimenting with songwriting, creating simple repetitive melodies that didn't necessarily fit into a specific genre.

In 2005, Parker formed the band 'The Dee Dee Dums', which later became the foundation for his most popular project, 'Tame Impala'. Alongside the other musicians in the band, Parker won the finals of the 'National Campus Band Competition'. However, he eventually gravitated towards psychedelic rock and made significant changes to the band's style and sound.

With the band's name changed to 'Tame Impala', Parker's project gained popularity both in Australia and worldwide, attracting fans of psychedelic rock and indie rock. Despite the addition of new members, Parker continued to write and record all of the group's songs on his own, with the other musicians serving as invited contributors for live performances.

In addition to 'Tame Impala', Parker actively collaborated with other bands and artists, including 'Pond', where he played drums, and 'Melody's Echo Chamber', a dream-pop collective founded by his girlfriend, Melody Prochet. He also took part in projects such as 'Canyons', 'Discodeine', 'Relation Longue Distance', and 'Kevin Spacey', often featuring other musicians who also played with him in 'Tame Impala'.

Currently, Parker dedicates most of his time to recording new material in the studio, continuously refining his sound. His album 'Lonerism' was recently nominated for a Grammy Award in the Best Alternative Album category. Despite his global success, Parker remains a solo artist at heart, valuing the contributions of his fellow musicians while maintaining his creative vision.
