Early Life and Background
Kiaventio Tarbell was born on April 28, 2006, on the Mohawk territory of Akwesasne, located in New York, Ontario, and Quebec. Her parents, Cory and Barbara Tarbell, are from the Mohawk tribe, which was part of the Iroquois League. Growing up on Cornwall Island and attending the Akwesasne Freedom School, Kiaventio currently resides between Ottawa, Montreal, and New York City, holding dual citizenship.
Acting Career
Kiaventio's acting debut came in the final season of "Anne," based on Lucy Maud Montgomery's "Anne of Green Gables." She portrayed a Mi'kmaw representation, for which she immersed herself in the language, history, and culture of the people.
In 2020, Kiaventio starred in the feature film "Beans," a dramatic portrayal of a 78-day standoff between two Mohawk communities and government forces in Quebec. She earned critical acclaim for her role, receiving nominations from the Vancouver Film Critics Circle and the Independent Spirit Awards.
Kiaventio also made waves at the Vancouver Women in Film Festival with the short film "N'xaxaitkw" and lent her voice to the animated television series "What If...?"

Kiaventio's dream came true when she was cast as Katara in the live-action adaptation of "Avatar: The Last Airbender." As the last waterbender of her tribe, Katara sets out with the protagonist on a quest to unlock her true potential.
