Biography of Kim Jong Il

Kim Jong Il, the leader of North Korea, was born on February 16, 1942, into a revolutionary family that dedicated their lives to fighting against foreign invaders for the independence of their homeland and the liberation of their people. He held various positions within the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), including being a member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee (CC), a member of the Central Military Committee of the party, and the Secretary of the CC of the WPK. Additionally, he served as the Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army.

From September 1950 to August 1960, Kim Jong Il completed his general education, and from September 1960 to March 1964, he pursued higher education at Kim Il Sung University. In April 1964, he began working as an instructor and later became the head of a sector in the CC of the WPK apparatus. In September 1973, he became the Secretary of the CC of the WPK and, in February 1974, a member of the Political Committee of the CC of the WPK. Kim Jong Il vigorously defended the revolutionary traditions of the party and devoted much effort to strengthen and develop Korean nationalism. He made significant contributions to the development of literature and art, successfully implementing programs that led to the flourishing of the distinctive art of the Korean nation.

From February 1982, Kim Jong Il served as a deputy of the Supreme People's Assembly of North Korea for the seventh, eighth, and ninth sessions. In May 1990, he became the First Deputy Chairman of the National Defense Commission of North Korea, and in December 1991, he assumed the position of the Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army. In April 1992, he was bestowed the title of Marshal of North Korea.

Kim Jong Il was a brilliant theorist, with numerous works to his name that have been translated into many languages and gained popularity in the Eastern regions of Asia. Some of his notable works include "On the Juche Idea," "On Some Questions in the Study of the Philosophy of Juche," "On Cinema," "On Literature Based on the Principle of Juche," and more. He was honored with the title of Hero of North Korea and has been awarded the Order of Kim Il Sung three times. He received multiple orders from North Korea and foreign countries and held the honorary doctorate title from universities in other countries.
