Kim Hyun-joong is a renowned South Korean singer, actor, and model who rose to fame as the frontman of the popular boy band SS501.
Early Life and Education
Born in Seoul, South Korea, Kim displayed exceptional intelligence from a young age, excelling in mathematics and the arts. Despite dropping out of high school to pursue music, he later completed his education by graduating from Jungwoon University and Kyunggi University with degrees in theatre and acting.
Music Career
In 2005, Kim made his debut with SS501, which quickly became one of South Korea's top boy bands. Known for their energetic dance performances and hit songs such as "Deja Vu" and "My Girl," SS501 received numerous awards and recognition throughout Asia and beyond. Kim's leadership and charismatic vocals earned him the affectionate nickname "Mannae," meaning "living sculpture."
In 2011, Kim embarked on a solo career, releasing his debut album "Break Down." The album sold over 70,000 copies on pre-orders alone and reached the top of music charts in both South Korea and Japan. His follow-up album "Lucky" achieved even greater success, reaching number 5 on the Billboard World Albums chart. Kim was awarded the Best Male Artist at the Asian Music Awards for his achievements.
Acting Career
In 2009, Kim made his acting debut in the television series "Boys Over Flowers," a Korean adaptation of the popular Japanese manga. The drama was a massive hit both domestically and internationally, garnering Kim recognition as Best Actor at the Seoul International Drama Awards.
Kim's acting career continued with roles in the romantic comedy "Playful Kiss" and the action film "City Conquest." Despite the varying success of his projects, Kim's popularity remained strong, establishing him as a sought-after actor.
Personal Life
Kim Hyun-joong is unmarried, but his relationships have been the subject of much media attention. In 2014, he was involved in a highly publicized scandal when his former girlfriend claimed she was pregnant with his child.
