Biography of Una Healy

Una Healy is an Irish singer, songwriter, and guitarist. She is best known as one of the five girls in the British group 'The Saturdays'. Born on October 10, 1981, in Tipperary, a county in the south of Ireland, Healy stood out initially as a backing vocalist. She started writing original music and playing the guitar at the age of 13. Healy is now proficient in playing both acoustic and electric guitar, as well as the piano. She performed her own compositions in music exams, including her graduation, and received the highest grade in both instances.

After completing school, Healy joined a local Irish rock band and went on to work with other musicians for several years. She won the Irish 'Eurovision Song Contest' in 2004 and 2006 and also produced her own mini-album titled 'Sorry'. In 2007, Healy joined the girl band 'The Saturdays'. The group's first four singles, 'If This Is Love', 'Up', 'Issues', and 'Just Can't Get Enough', all reached the top ten of the UK charts. Their debut album, 'Chasing Lights', peaked at number nine on the album chart.

'The Saturdays' were selected as the support act for 'Girls Aloud' on their 'Tangled Up Tour'. The girls also performed at a concert by the pop-rock boy band 'Jonas Brothers' at the prestigious 'Hammersmith Apollo' on September 11, 2008, and joined the concert tour 'Take That Presents: The Circus Live' by the English pop group 'Take That' on June 5, 2009. As invited guests, 'The Saturdays' appeared on September 18 in the British spin-off of the Channel 4 TV series 'Hollyoaks', called 'Hollyoaks Later'.

Una, as part of the group, participated in an episode titled 'The Syrens' Call' of the BBC short drama series 'Myths', in which she had the lead role. As a child, Una Healy was the junior swimming champion of Ireland. She has one younger sister named Deirdre. Healy is the niece of Irish country singer Declan Nerney. Currently, Una is in a relationship with English rugby player Ben Foden.
