Early Life and EducationKira Kazantsev was born in 1991 in San Francisco, California, to Russian immigrant parents. She currently resides in New York City and is a student at Hofstra University. After completing her undergraduate studies, she plans to attend law school.
Beauty Pageant Success
Kazantsev first participated in beauty pageants in 2013, winning the 'Cosmopolitan' competition for Miss New York. She placed 10th in the Miss America pageant that year. In 2014, she competed again in the Miss New York competition and emerged as the winner. With her crown and the title of Miss New York, Kazantsev represented the state in the Miss America 2015 pageant held in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Kazantsev made history by becoming the first Miss America winner to speak Russian. Overall, representatives from New York have won the Miss America crown six times. Kazantsev's father is a surgeon specializing in pancreatic cancer, while her mother is involved in real estate. Besides English and Russian, Kazantsev is also fluent in Spanish.

As Miss America, Kazantsev is heavily involved in charitable initiatives and social work. She promotes her own social program called 'Love Shouldn't Hurt,' which aims to help victims of domestic violence.
