A Catastrophic Wedding Day: Kirsty and Carl Taylor-Pendlebury
IntroductionKirsty Taylor-Pendlebury, a mathematics teacher, and her husband Carl Taylor-Pendlebury had long planned their dream wedding day. However, their eagerly awaited day turned into a catastrophe. The situation is further exacerbated by the fact that they paid for the extravagant ceremony using credit cards, so they will be paying off their unfulfilled dream for a long time.
A Nightmare Wedding
For Kirsty, the newlywed wife, memories of her wedding day are filled with tears, but not tears of happiness. In fact, the day that Kirsty and her husband Carl had been preparing for over four years turned out to be one of the worst in their lives. It is safe to say that not every bride and groom are fortunate enough to spend their first bridal night in a hospital bed due to acute food poisoning. Shortly after saying "I do," the 26-year-old newlyweds had to call an ambulance at their wedding. The most important day in their lives, which cost them £14,000, was marked by severe abdominal pain, excruciating vomiting, and, unfortunately, violent diarrhea. Even in their wedding photos, they look, to put it mildly, unwell.
The Dream Wedding
Kirsty and Carl Taylor-Pendlebury, from Stevenage, Hertfordshire, had their wedding on August 8th in Oludeniz, Turkey. With their limited salaries, they used credit cards to finance their memorable event and are still paying interest on them. Kirsty and Carl met in school when they were both 14 years old. In 2010, after graduating from university, they got engaged and spent four years planning their dream wedding. Their dream was to have a beautiful ceremony on the beach, bathed in the rays of the bright sun. Two years ago, in 2012, Kirsty booked the time and place for her wedding in Oludeniz, Turkey, and began preparations, planning every detail meticulously. They even planned to arrive at the ceremony by boat. They both flew from the UK in good health, but on the morning of the wedding day, immediately after waking up, Kirsty realized that she had severe stomach pain. She could not leave the bathroom. It kept getting worse, but everyone told her that it was just nerves. She even believed that everything would be fine, but the pain intensified until the bride had her makeup and hair done. Then it became known that Carl had also fallen ill. Kirsty thought they would never make it to the altar and decided to cancel the ceremony, but Carl insisted on proceeding with the wedding. However, the "most beautiful day" quickly turned into a nightmare.
A Disastrous Celebration
On the boat, Kirsty's main concern was not to stain her white dress with vomit. On the beach, she was shocked to see how sickly her groom looked, almost green! They quickly exchanged their wedding vows, and then Mr. Pendlebury had to leave his wife alone to fend off the guests since he had to urgently visit the bathroom. The smell of food made them nauseous. The tables were filled with delicacies, but Kirsty and Carl couldn't even think about eating. The heat worsened the situation. The newlyweds managed to cut their wedding cake and have their first dance, trying not to stumble and fall. However, when they realized that they were spending more time in the bathroom than with their guests, they gave up and allowed the ambulance to be called, which took them to the nearest hospital. The reception ended two hours earlier than planned. Before that, they even dared to take a boat ride for their wedding photos. Kirsty lay and cried in between shots, but she tried to smile for the camera, hoping to get at least one beautiful photo of that ill-fated day.
A Difficult Recovery
At the hospital, Carl was diagnosed with severe dehydration and gastroenteritis, and Kirsty stayed by his side, spending their first bridal night on a cot. They were too sick and distraught to even talk. Carl was discharged in the morning, and they spent the next five days in their room, recovering. Some of the guests also experienced the same symptoms, and they too were diagnosed with gastroenteritis. Since they had dined at several local restaurants the day before, it was difficult to pinpoint exactly where they all got food poisoning.
The Future
Kirsty and Carl would like to hold a new ceremony to replace the failed one, but they are still paying off their first wedding and cannot afford to save money for a second one. Family and friends are determined to raise enough funds to organize a new ceremony for Kirsty and Carl and erase the horrifying memories from their minds.
