The Birth of "Klyuchi" Band
Amidst the economic turmoil of the early '90s, a new musical star was born from adversity. The band "Klyuchi," led by vocalist and visionary Tимур Валеев, emerged from the shadows, determined to make a mark.
Tимуr's Musical Journey
Valeev's passion for music began at a tender age when his mother enrolled him in piano lessons. After a brief hiatus, he rediscovered his love for music through the guitar, becoming inseparable from it throughout his school and university years.
Business and Music Collide
After graduating, Valeev pursued a successful business career in various industries. However, his creative drive would not be silenced. He continued to experiment with music in his home studio, recording and producing demos.
Forming the Band
By 1997, Valeev's musical aspirations took precedence. He abandoned his business ventures and invested all his earnings into a musical project, which he initially named "Tимуr and Company."
Together with a group of musicians from other bands, they recorded seven songs at the "Soyuz" studio. The positive response to these recordings sparked the realization that it was time to assemble a permanent band.
Choosing the Name "Klyuchi"
After considering various options, the band settled on the name "Klyuchi," meaning "keys." Its versatility allowed them to explore a wide range of musical styles and themes, from household items to metaphorical doors.
Defining Their Style
Valeev described the band's approach to music as "urban romance," rejecting traditional genre classifications and embracing a blend of elements from different genres.
The Debut Album
Klyuchi's debut album, "Ty eshche ne znaesh" (You Don't Know Yet) was released in June 1999 on "Soyuz." It featured hit songs like "Ne nado" (Don't), "Devchonka" (Girl), "Odna" (Alone), and "Ponedelnik, 5:25" (Monday, 5:25), which charted on several radio stations.
Rise to Stardom
Concerts and appearances followed the album's release, including a live performance at the "Radio Gaga" club that was broadcasted to millions on "101" radio. The band's popularity continued to soar.
The Second Album
In 2000, Klyuchi began recording their second album. After extensive studio work, they released "Nashla" (Found) in May 2001 on the "JRC" label. The album further cemented their status as a rising star in Russian music.
