Konrad von Sack

Konrad von Sack was a distinguished member of the Teutonic Order during the 14th century. His tenure in Prussia spanned from 1302 to 1306, during which time he held the esteemed position of Landmaster.

Leadership Roles within the Teutonic Order

Before becoming Landmaster, von Sack held several significant leadership roles. He served as Commander of Chełmno Land (1296-1298) and Commander of Christburg (1289 and 1296). Additionally, he was Commander of Golub in 1305 and Toruń from 1301-1302.

Contributions to the Castle at Golub

While serving as Commander of Golub, von Sack played a pivotal role in the construction of an imposing fortress. He initiated the project, which commenced with the erection of rectangular-shaped brick walls reinforced with buttresses at the corners and along the center of the structure. The first phase of construction concluded in 1306, after von Sack had already become Landmaster of Prussia.

Royal Visits to the Castle

Following the completion of the castle's first phase, von Sack welcomed a notable guest. Ziemowit, Duke of Dobrzyń, visited the fortress in 1306, further enhancing its significance.
