Konrad Stäheli: A Swiss Shooting Legend

Early Life and Career

Konrad Stäheli was born on December 17, 1866, in the Swiss municipality of Egnach. As a young man, he developed a passion for shooting. In 1898, at the age of 31, he began participating in world championships.

World Championships Dominance

By 1914, Stäheli had become a 41-time world champion, along with 17 silver medals and 11 bronze medals. He excelled in both individual and team events.

Olympic Triumphs

Stäheli made his Olympic debut in 1900 in Paris. He won three gold medals: in the individual 300-meter army rifle kneeling position, the team army rifle three positions, and the team 50-meter revolver. He also earned a bronze medal in the individual 50-meter revolver.

Unofficial Medals

In addition to his official Olympic medals, Stäheli also won five unofficial medals at the unofficial 1906 Athens Olympics. He claimed two golds, two silvers, and a bronze in various rifle disciplines.

Later Career and Legacy

Stäheli continued to compete and win titles until his retirement in 1928. He passed away on November 5, 1931, in St. Gallen, Switzerland. Stäheli's exceptional skills and achievements have made him a legendary figure in the history of shooting sports.
