Childhood and Early Career
Born in the heart of Russia, Aleksei Yegorov's passion for football emerged at a tender age. In 1915, he joined the youth team of "Kolomyagi," showcasing his exceptional skills as a left-winger and left-inside forward.
Club Success in Petrograd
As Yegorov's talent blossomed, he was recruited by "Sport" in 1922-1923. His contributions helped the team achieve noteworthy results. Subsequently, he joined the prestigious "Petrograd District A" and "Pishchevkusa," where he celebrated multiple Leningrad championships.
Triumph with Dynamo
In 1931, Yegorov made a pivotal move to "Dinamo," where he continued to excel. His astute play led the team to numerous Leningrad titles, solidifying his status as a local legend. Yegorov also represented both the Leningrad and RSFSR national teams, earning recognition for his exceptional abilities.
Coaching Career
Upon retiring as a player, Yegorov seamlessly transitioned into coaching, where he mentored several city club teams. In June 1938, he became the head coach of "Stalints," the predecessor of the illustrious "Zenit." Under Yegorov's guidance, the team reached the final of the 1939 Soviet Cup. He held this position until June 1940.
Post-War Contributions
In the aftermath of the Great Patriotic War, Yegorov resumed his coaching endeavors with city club teams. Additionally, he pursued a career as a referee, officiating football and hockey matches at a republican level. His expertise and dedication earned him the distinction of being a "Republican Category Referee."
