Early Life and Education

Konstantin Petrovich Komardin moved to Voskresensk, Moscow Oblast, after graduating from rural school in 1934, where he worked and attended an FZU school at the Voskresensk Chemical Plant becoming a member of the Komsomol. In 1937, he relocated to Novo-Khovrino with his family, completing correspondence courses from Kolomensky Aeroclub and subsequently graduated from Engels Military Aviation School for Pilots.

Military Career

Komardin enlisted in the Red Army in 1938. His first victory in the skies came on April 29, 1943, when he downed an enemy aircraft. He achieved notable success on the North Caucasus Front, flying 36 combat sorties, engaging in 15 air group battles, and shooting down six enemy planes.

Southern Front Exploits and Heroism

Transferred to the Southern Front, Komardin increased his tally with 54 combat sorties and 20 air battles, destroying 12 enemy aircraft. In total, his combat record boasts over 150 sorties, approximately 35 air engagements, 21 solo enemy plane kills, and one group victory. Additionally, he destroyed three planes on the ground.

Recognition and Legacy

Komardin's exceptional bravery and heroism earned him the title of Hero of the Soviet Union on November 1, 1943. He received the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal, along with the Order of the Red Banner and Orders of the Patriotic War of the 1st and 2nd degrees for his outstanding service during the Great Patriotic War.
