Biography of Konstantin Stepankov

Konstantin Stepankov, an actor, was born on June 3, 1928, in the village of Pecheski in Ukraine. He graduated from the Kiev Institute of Theatrical Arts named after I. K. Karpenko-Karyi in 1953. From 1955, Stepankov became an actor at the Academic Theater named after I. Franko, and from 1968, he joined the Kiev Film Studio named after A. Dovzhenko. Starting from 1953, with occasional breaks, he worked as a teacher and head of the acting department at the Theater Institute named after I. K. Karpenko-Karyi.

Stepankov was awarded the title of People's Artist of the USSR in 1977. He also received the Lenin Komsomol Prize in 1975, the Dovzhenko State Prize of Ukraine in 2003, and was the first laureate of the Bykov Prize in 1998. Throughout his career, Konstantin Stepankov portrayed more than 100 roles in theater and film. Some of his most well-known roles were in films such as "How the Steel Was Tempered," "Zakhar Berkut," "The Battle for Moscow," "White Bird with a Black Mark," and "The Legend of Princess Olga," among others.
