Biography of Kristina Nicole Groves
Kristina Nicole Groves, a Canadian speed skater, was born in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada in 1976. She made her professional debut in 1996 at the Canadian Championships and later participated in the World Cup, despite not having a personal sponsor.

Achievements
Groves is now the most decorated Canadian speed skater with 13 career medals. Among her accomplishments are four Olympic medals, including two silver medals in the 1500m race and in the team pursuit event at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin. She also won a silver medal in the women's 1500m race and a bronze medal in the women's 3000m race at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.

Olympic Career
Groves made her Olympic debut in 2002 at the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics, finishing 20th in the 1500m race, 8th in the 3000m race, and 10th in the 5000m race. In the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, she competed in five races, finishing fifth in the 1000m race, second in the 1500m race, eighth in the 3000m race, sixth in the 5000m race, and second in the team pursuit event as part of the Canadian team.

World Championships
At the 2008 World Championships, Groves won two silver medals and two bronze medals. During the 2008-2009 World Cup season, she won a total of 12 medals, including four gold medals. In 2009, on the Olympic Oval in Richmond, Canada, Groves had a remarkable season, surpassing famous skater Jeremy Wotherspoon by three medals. On December 6, 2009, she set a world record in the team pursuit event with Christine Nesbitt and Brittany Schussler in Calgary.

Kristina Groves holds personal records of 38.75 seconds in the 500m race, 1:14.98 in the 1000m race, 1:53.58 in the 1500m race, 3:58.62 in the 3000m race, and 6:54.55 in the 5000m race.
Charitable Work
Aside from her athletic achievements, Groves has a Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology and is involved in several charitable organizations, including 'Right to Play' and 'Clean Air Champions,' where she advocates for environmental protection. Despite her success, those who know Groves personally describe her as very modest.
