Early CareerKristján Sigurðsson is an Icelandic footballer who played as a defender. He began his career with Þór Akureyri in Iceland before making his professional debut for Völsungur.
Return to Þór Akureyri and Move to England
After returning to Þór Akureyri for a season in 1997, Sigurðsson transferred to Stoke City in England. However, he failed to establish himself in the first team between 1997 and 2001.
Success in Norway
Upon his return to Iceland, Sigurðsson spent a season with Þór Akureyri and two with KR Reykjavík before joining Brann in Norway. Sigurðsson was one of Brann's fastest and most dominant defenders in the air, making him a key asset.
He spent six seasons with Brann, making 120 appearances and scoring 10 goals. After his contract expired, he left the club as a free agent and joined Hønefoss in January 2010.
International Career
