Kyle Gass: A Multifaceted Entertainer

American musician, actor, producer, screenwriter, and composer Kyle Richard Gass was born on July 14, 1961, in Castro Valley, California.

Early Life and Musical Beginnings

Gass's musical journey commenced at a young age. By the age of 8, he had mastered the flute and saxophone, and at 12, he picked up the guitar. As a teenager, Gass showcased his acting abilities, performing in a 7UP Gold commercial in 1988.

The Actor's Gang and Tenacious D

Gass attended college with Tim Robbins, who invited him to join The Actor's Gang theater company. There, he met Jack Black, whose friendship would prove pivotal. Gass taught Black guitar, while Black honed Gass's acting skills.

Along with Black, Gass co-founded the satirical rock group Tenacious D, where he plays acoustic and electric guitar.

Film and Television Career

Gass has starred in numerous films, primarily in supporting roles. He has often shared the screen with Black. Notably, Gass played a minor character in the video game "Brutal Legend" in 2009.

Other Notables

In 1997, Gass and Jason Reed formed the rock band Trainwreck under the pseudonyms "Clip Calhoun" and "Daryl Lee Donald." Gass also serves as the godfather to Black's son.
