Early Life and EducationKyra Sedgwick was born on August 19, 1965, in New York City. She was born into a family of a teacher named Patricia (nee Rosenwald) and a venture capitalist named Henry Dwight Sedgwick. On her father's side, Kyra is a descendant of the famous judge Theodore Sedgwick. When Kyra was six years old, her parents divorced, and her mother remarried art director Ben Heller. Despite not actively participating in church events, Kyra's family was considered religious, which had a significant influence on her upbringing. As a result, she attended Friends Seminary seminary and later enrolled in Sarah Lawrence College before transferring to the University of Southern California, where she graduated with a degree in theater arts.
