LaToya London Biography
LaToya Renee London, born in 1978 in San Francisco, California, is an American soul singer and actress. She spent her childhood in Oakland, in the same state. LaToya fell in love with music at the age of four when she started singing in the Baptist church choir. Her first public performance was at the age of seven when she sang at her mother's wedding. During her school years, LaToya sang in the youth choir of Oakland, and after graduating, she worked as a waitress and bartender while pursuing her music career.
American Idol
LaToya joined the third season of the popular show "American Idol" with the determination to win. Although she easily made it through each round, she was not the favorite among the viewers. However, her performance of Eric Carmen's "All by Myself" caught the attention of judges Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson. They praised her rendition as "brilliant" and "incredible," which made many realize the talent and strength of this seemingly quiet girl. Despite not winning the competition, LaToya finished in fourth place, with Fantasia Barrino winning the season.
