Biograpy of Lana Lane
Born and raised in Concord, California, Lana Lane grew up in a musical family and was surrounded by a balanced diet of rock music and big band swing. With music always playing in her home, it's no wonder that she started singing at a young age, blessed with a beautiful voice. After finishing school, Lana began performing with various groups and even tried her hand at songwriting.
In the late 80s, Lane ventured to the American music Mecca, Los Angeles, where she met Eric Norlander, who would later become her husband and producer. For a while, Lana was content working on various projects, including collaborating with Norlander. Interestingly, in addition to her main instrument, her voice, Lane also played the guitar and piano.
Lana started her solo career in 1995 with the release of her album "Love is an illusion" on the "Think Tank Media" label. She was supported by members of the "Rocking Scientists", Don Schiff (drums) and Tommy Amato (drums), as well as two guitarists - Neil Citron and Curtis Palmer. The album garnered attention from the public, but it was particularly popular in Japan. The enterprising Japanese record label "Marquee Belle Antique" quickly reached out to Lane and secured her agreement to release her next album. In 1996, "Curious Goods" was released, featuring Citron, Norlander, Amato, and Tony Franklin (ex-"Blue Murder", "Firm"). The album was a great success in Japan, and "Marquee" even established a special label, "Avalon", with Lane as its leading artist.
In 1998, Lana released three albums. Her new studio album, "Garden of the Moon", paved the way for her entry into the European market. This was followed by the live album "Live in Japan", recorded during her Japanese tour, and the aptly titled "Ballad Collection". After releasing another album, "Queen of the Ocean", Lane concluded her five-year work with a compilation of her best songs, "The Best of Lana Lane 1995-1999".
Entering the new millennium, the queen of symphonic rock, as Lane was called by the press, released her fifth studio album, "Secret of Astrology", and the second volume of her ballad series, "Ballad Collection II" (which included both her own songs and covers of other artists). It is worth noting that European musicians assisted in the recording of "Astrology". In 2002, her sixth studio album, "Project Shangri-La", was released, featuring a range of 12 tracks from heartfelt acoustic ballads to crushing neoclassical metal anthems. The album included notable guest appearances by drummer Vinny Appice ("Black Sabbath", "Dio") and vocalist Mark Boals ("Ring of Fire", Yngwie Malmsteen).
In 2003, she released another collection of covers, "Cover Collection", featuring songs from bands like "Kansas" and "Rainbow", as well as the melancholic and atmospheric album "Winter Sessions". The following year, her second Japanese live album, "Return to Japan", was released, and in 2005, Lane embarked on a venture to explore the works of William Shakespeare, presenting her version of the great writer's work, "Macbeth".
