Early Life and Education

Lance Bass was born in Laurel, Mississippi, and moved with his family to Clinton as a child. Instead of completing high school, he was homeschooled through the University of Nebraska. In addition to his musical talents, Bass has a passion for science and aspired to become an astronaut early in life. Before the dissolution of 'N Sync, he enrolled in a local college to pursue a degree in entertainment business management.

Musical Beginnings

Bass's musical journey began in the seventh grade when he joined his school choir. A year later, he became a member of the Mississippi Show Stoppers, an ensemble sponsored by the Mississippi Museum of Agriculture and Forestry. His debut performance with them saw him portraying Puff, a small dog, on stage.

Rise to Fame with 'N Sync

In 1995, Bass joined forces with Justin Timberlake and three others to form the teenage pop sensation 'N Sync. As the band's "pretty boy," Bass often took a backseat to Timberlake's charisma. He was also known as "Lance-sten" or "Pretty Boy Number Two" within the group.

Personal Struggles and Coping Mechanisms

To alleviate the stress of touring, Bass turned to video and computer games as a form of escapism. In 2010, he was selected as Mr. IATM (International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences).

Space Tourism Aspirations

Bass was poised to become the third space tourist and underwent rigorous training. However, financial constraints prevented him from boarding the spacecraft after completing pre-flight preparations.

Coming Out and Relationship

In the March 2006 issue of People magazine, Bass publicly came out as gay. He also announced his relationship with Reichen Lehmkuhl in the same interview. The couple later parted ways in December 2006, as confirmed by Bass's manager.
