Biography of Lara Wendel

Lara Wendel, born Daniela Rachel Barnes, is an Italian actress of German descent. She was born in Munich, Germany to a German mother, Britta Wendel, and an American father, Walter Barnes. She has a brother named Michel, who is also an actor. In 1968, Lara and her parents moved to Italy.

Early Career as a Model

Similar to Eva Ionesco, Lara Wendel began her career as a model at a young age, around five years old. However, she soon transitioned to acting and made her film debut at the age of seven in the 1972 film "Mio caro assassino" (My Dear Killer), where she played the role of Stefania Moroni.

Transition to Lara Wendel

From 1972 to 1974, Lara Wendel used her real name and surname for her acting credits. However, she later adopted the pseudonym Lara, which was formed from the last syllable of her first name "Daniela" and the first syllable of her middle name "Rachele," as well as her mother's maiden name.

Controversial Popularity

In 1977, Lara Wendel gained scandalous popularity through her role in the film "Maladolescenza" (Playing with Love), directed by Pier Giuseppe Murgia. She continued to act in numerous films, including "Identification of a Woman" (1982) and "Interview" (1987). Additionally, she worked as a Playboy model.
