Biography of Larisa Astrein
Larisa Astrein is a painter and graphic artist who was born in the Ashgabat region in 1941. She graduated from the V.I. Mukhina Leningrad Higher Art and Industrial School and initially worked in the field of design and interior decoration.
Artistic Career
Astrein has participated in numerous Russian and international exhibitions associated with the "school" or "group of Sterligov," a trend in contemporary art in St. Petersburg. She had the opportunity to showcase her works in solo exhibitions held in St. Petersburg in 1991, 1994, and 1998.
In 1991, she became a member of the International Federation of Artists (IFA). Astrein's artistic style aligns with the tendencies of the Russian avant-garde, particularly with the influence of Vladimir Vasilievich Sterligov, a student of Malevich. Her artworks can be found in the collections of the State Museum of the History of St. Petersburg, as well as private collections in Finland, Sweden, France, the United States, Germany, and Romania.
