Laura Elizabeth Harris, born on November 20, 1976, in Vancouver, British Columbia, is a Canadian actress. She was raised in a family of school teachers and showed an early interest in acting, participating in radio dramas and animated series since the age of five. She attended Crofton House School and also received education through correspondence courses.
Early Career
After becoming an actress, Harris often reminisced about the lack of boys in her school, which may explain her reluctance to attend parties. She gained professional experience as a television actress in Vancouver before actively pursuing roles in feature films as a talented teenager. Following her time as a waitress in Vancouver, Harris relocated to Los Angeles.
Notable Roles
Harris is best known for her portrayals of Daisy Adair in the television series "Dead Like Me" and Mary Warner in the spy thriller "24". Her film career began in the 1990s when she played a role in the movie adaptation of Stephen King's "It". In the 1998 film "Faculty", she portrayed Marybeth, despite her aversion to the horror genre. Soon after, she established her own production company, "Rocket Chicken International Pictures", under which she starred in the film "Come Together".
Recent Work
During the summer of 2009, Harris played one of the main roles in the science fiction series "Defying Gravity". Despite her daring behavior as a pedestrian, often disregarding traffic rules, Harris has expressed her dislike for attracting attention. She is fluent in Spanish and French and has a tattoo of a sun and a scorpion symbol on the back of her left shoulder. According to Harris, she dreams of marrying a Cuban carpenter who can build her dream home and teach her salsa and surfing. She also has a childhood aspiration of becoming a puppeteer, inspired by the show "The Muppet Show".
